The Labour Court recommended compensation of €5,000 for a household supervisor with 30 years’ service, €2,000 for one with nine years and €1,500 for one with five years in a roster dispute with the National Maternity Hospital. Its recommendation was signed on 6 August 2010. The Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union (IMPACT) said the roster changes would reduce the workers’ earnings and sought compensation. The hospital argued that the rosters were inefficient and said it had offered extra annual leave and alternative work. The Court noted that the disputed payments were pensionable and recommended the three payments; the hospital’s offer of additional annual leave remained available.
