The Labour Court recommended that Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union resume talks over pay terms for salaried distribution team members at the company’s Fonthill centre. Its recommendation was signed on 29 June 2010. The union sought the full pay terms of the Towards 2016 agreement, arguing that Musgrave was profitable. The company said its turnover and profits were falling and pay discussions with staff were already under way. The Court said pay and modernisation issues were linked and recommended a comprehensive resolution, with the outcome put to ballot by 31 July 2010. If the parties could not agree, either could refer outstanding matters back to the Court.
