The Labour Court recommended that Aibp Waterford restore the piece rate and hygiene bonus for eight workers represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, retrospectively to when they were removed. The recommendation was signed on 28 May 2010. The union said the changes, introduced without agreement, cut pay by between 26% and 37% for affected workers. AIBP said the old system was unworkable and the new structure improved pay for most employees, while restoring the former rates could put other jobs at risk. The Court said significant changes to existing employment conditions should involve negotiation and agreement.
