The Labour Court recommended that Acheson and Glover Ireland Limited pay one additional week’s pay per year of service, on top of statutory redundancy entitlements, to workers affected by the closure of its Waterford production facility. It recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept the company’s offer. The recommendation was signed on 25 May 2010. The union had sought three and a half additional weeks’ pay per year of service. The company said its financial position prevented it from paying beyond statutory entitlements, but offered one additional week.
