The Labour Court recommended that the union accept HSE Dublin North East’s proposed D-Doc roster changes, while asking both sides to limit the effect on weekend working. The recommendation was signed on 27 May 2010. The HSE said weekend demand was higher and it lacked resources to expand the service. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued the changes would disrupt members’ rosters and family lives and affect service to clients. The Court considered the changes reasonable to meet demand, but said they would significantly change drivers’ working patterns. It recommended that both sides examine the roster to reduce weekend working, that the HSE try to accommodate staff seeking transfers, and that the arrangements be reviewed after six months.
