Labour Court recommends €3,500 for worker after contract non-renewal

The Labour Court recommended that Wexford Disability Development (CIL) Limited pay €3,500 to a Community Employment Scheme supervisor after finding that the non-renewal of her contract constituted an injustice. The recommendation was signed on 19 May 2010. The employer said her fixed-term contract had ended and she could reapply for the role. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said supervisors normally continued when a scheme was renewed and that no performance issues had been raised. The Court noted that the scheme had been renewed and that the employer accepted there were no performance problems.
