Labour Court rejects union claim for permanent Grade V appointment at Teagasc

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim that a worker at Teagasc be made permanent in Grade V. It recommended that Teagasc give him every opportunity to achieve an upgrade in line with the Deloitte and Touche recommendations. The recommendation was signed on 26 April 2010. The worker had acted in a Grade V position from 6 August 2004 to 21 May 2007. The Court said the terms of his temporary appointment had been followed, while noting he had become embedded in the role and had achieved the highest possible performance appraisal standard.
