Labour Court recommends 3.5% pay phase for St Raphael's Garda Credit Union staff

The Labour Court recommended that St Raphael's Garda Credit Union Limited pay workers the first 3.5% phase of the Towards 2016 Transitional Agreement from October 2008. Its recommendation was signed on 19 March 2010. The workers, represented by Unite, said their contracts provided for national pay agreements and sought the phase retrospectively. The credit union offered 3% without retrospection and said most employers in the sector had not paid the agreement. The Court found the credit union was contractually committed to the national agreement and had not used its inability-to-pay provisions. It therefore recommended payment of the 3.5% phase from its October 2008 due date.
