The Labour Court recommended increasing Irish Flavours and Fragrances Limited’s redundancy offer to eight weeks’ pay per year of service, inclusive of statutory redundancy entitlements, with a cap of 2.75 years’ pay. It also recommended retaining an additional €1,000 per service year above the cap. The dispute arose as the company planned to move its Irish operation to Tilburg, Holland. A group of workers, represented by Unite Trade Union and Mr Gareth Kyne, sought nine weeks’ pay per service year without a cap. The company had offered five weeks’ pay per service year plus statutory entitlements, capped at two years’ salary, with an additional €1,000 per service year above the cap. The Court also recommended that the company fund its pension scheme to meet its commitments and liabilities. The recommendation was signed on 18 March 2010.
