The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Independent Workers Union’s claim for a €15 hourly rate for butchers at Cribbin Family Butchers, which paid €12 an hour. The recommendation was signed on 22 February 2010. The union said the rate came from a collective agreement with the Cork Master Butchers Association and applied across the Cork region. The Court found the evidence did not establish that the association represented employers generally or that the rate was accepted as a regional pay norm.
