The Labour Court recommended that TF Productions pay a freelance musician €4,600 after it cancelled her tour engagement at short notice, leaving her unable to find alternative work. The recommendation was signed on 15 January 2010. The union said the musician had agreed to perform between 16 January and 4 April 2009 and sought the contractual fee. TF Productions disputed the claim and argued she was not a worker under the Industrial Relations Acts, but did not attend the hearing. The Court found she was a worker and that the dispute could proceed. On the uncontested evidence, it found the engagement was cancelled at short notice and she could not obtain other work during the period. It recommended compensation of €4,600.
