The Labour Court recommended that Carton Bros' proposed sick-pay scheme provide four weeks' full pay, less Social Welfare Benefits, after three unpaid days for employees with at least one year's service. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had argued for cover from the first day of absence, while Carton Bros said the old scheme's cost could not be sustained. The recommendation was signed on 22 October 2009.
