The Labour Court recommended an urgent fresh investigation by an agreed external third party into allegations against a worker who was a manager at Boyers Department Store. The recommendation was signed on 31 August 2009.
The worker, represented by Mandate, challenged a written warning and demotion imposed after the company’s internal investigation, as well as a transfer added on appeal. The union argued that the allegations lacked independent evidence and witnesses and that the company had not followed its own procedures.
Arnotts Limited told the Court it would not attend the hearing. The Court expressed disappointment and said the company’s absence made its task more difficult.
