The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the 16 Workers’ claim over layoffs, selection and loss of earnings at P. Carney Ltd. The recommendation was signed on 26 August 2009. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the company had laid off workers unilaterally and breached its agreement. It sought the return to work of members still laid off or on short time. P. Carney Ltd said it acted fairly under the agreement and that workers in the aluminium section could not reasonably be expected to take work for which they were not trained. The Court found no breach of the company-union agreement.
