The Labour Court recommended that Killarney Community Hospital - HSE South consult the Irish Nurses Orgainisation before making similar future management changes. The recommendation was signed on 24 August 2009. HSE South had proposed transferring responsibility for the hospital to the Director of Nursing at St Columbanus Home and creating an Assistant Director of Nursing post. The Court found the changes had been introduced without adequate consultation about their rationale or industrial relations implications. The Court said the union should cooperate with full implementation of the management proposals, subject to approval for the new post. It recommended full consultation with the union before similar future changes are implemented.
