The Labour Court recommended that a 35-hour Information Officer post at Galway Citizens Information Centre be filled through a confined competition open to all centre personnel, including paid staff, volunteers and FÁS CE participants. The recommendation was signed on 10 July 2009. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought to divide the additional hours among existing staff. Galway Citizens Information Centre said the post should follow the Citizens Information Board’s open-competition policy. The Court accepted management’s right to use a fair process but recommended restarting the competition from the beginning, with applications sought again.
