The Labour Court recommended enhanced redundancy terms for 11 Craft Maintenance Workers at RPS Engineering Services after the company decided to make its Waterford office employees redundant. The recommendation, dated 24 June 2009, followed a dispute over the company's offer of statutory redundancy only. The workers, represented by the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union, sought an enhanced package, arguing that the R.P.S. Group had paid more than statutory redundancy in other cases. RPS Engineering Services said additional payments would put the business and staff at risk. The Court recommended severance of two weeks' average pay per year of service in addition to statutory redundancy payments.
