Labour Court recommends €1,000 payment to Alexon International sales assistant

The Labour Court recommended that Alexon International pay a sales assistant €1,000 in full and final settlement of a dismissal dispute. The recommendation was signed on 10 June 2009. The worker said her temporary post had been filled by another employee shortly after she left. Alexon International said her fixed-term contract had ended under its terms and that later circumstances required the post to be filled again. The Court accepted that the contract had ended in accordance with its terms, but found the employer should have made greater efforts to check whether she was available when the post was refilled.
