The Labour Court recommended that Dawn Meats pay 57 Boning Hall Staff four weeks' pay per year of service, including statutory redundancy, at average earnings with no ceiling. The recommendation was signed on 29 May 2009.

The company planned to close its Boning Hall in Midleton, Co Cork, putting 65 jobs at risk. Dawn Meats had offered three weeks' pay per year, capped at €600 a week; the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought six weeks' pay per year and asked that employees seeking moves to other company sites be accommodated.

The Court also recommended that the company favourably consider expressions of interest from affected employees if vacancies arose at its Charleville plant.
