The Labour Court recommended that the effective date for assimilating Former Private College Lecturers into Teagasc pay scales be changed to 1 April 2006, and that the unions accept the change in full and final settlement. The recommendation was signed on 7 May 2009. The Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought higher pay-scale placements for 12 lecturers who transferred to Teagasc Advisory and Training Service. Teagasc had offered assimilation from 1 April 2007. The Court considered Teagasc's method consistent with normal public-sector practice and said an earlier date was warranted because the employer had responded positively to the claim in 2004.
