The Labour Court recommended that HSE West pay a worker €14,296.85 more in compensation for earnings lost after services transferred from Merlin Park Regional Hospital to University College Hospital Galway. The recommendation was signed on 6 May 2009.
The worker, a Clinical Nurse Manager 1, had received €6,002.18 after HSE West reduced a promised €20,299.03 payment because she had moved to a promoted post at University College Hospital Galway. The Irish Nurses Organisation represented her. HSE West said the full compensation was for staff who remained at Merlin Park Regional Hospital and lost premium earnings.
The Court found she had been told in writing in August 2007 that she would receive the full amount, but was later notified of the reduction. It recommended honouring that expectation, noting she continued to incur some loss in her new role.
