The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claims for improved pay, a pension scheme and sick pay be conceded at Social Action Group (St Joseph's Day Care Centre). The recommendation was signed on 17 April 2009. The union sought higher pay scales for health care assistants, bus drivers and support staff, saying workers had no pension or sick pay scheme and some grades were paid less than HSE comparators. The Group said it could not afford the claims and that its 2009 HSE grant was being reduced by €21,000.
