The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union’s and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claims against Dublin City Council for two allowances to be included in voluntary redundancy packages. The recommendation was signed on 14 April 2009. The unions sought a €5,500 wheelie bin allowance buyout and a Pay By Use payment for refuse workers taking voluntary severance. The Council said neither payment was part of the deal agreed with the unions and balloted on by staff, and that the national voluntary redundancy scheme did not provide for either claim. The Court, having considered both sides’ submissions, did not recommend concession of the unions’ claims.
