Labour Court recommends €5,000 settlement in Skretting dismissal dispute

The Labour Court recommended that Skretting (Trouw Aquaculture) pay a worker €5,000 in full and final settlement of a wrongful-dismissal claim. The recommendation was signed on 19 March 2009. The worker was represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The union said the dismissal conflicted with the company-union agreement, pointing to overtime and later hiring. Skretting said the job ended because of redundancy and there was no further work. The Court considered submissions from both sides before recommending the settlement.
