In 2009, the Labour Court recommended a review of staff roles and salaries at Sligo Credit Union, along with interim pay increases. The recommendation was signed on 2 March 2009. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the application of negotiated pay rates to staff who had not received them and higher pay for staff whose responsibilities had increased. Sligo Credit Union said further increases were unsustainable and its pay rates were comparable with other employments. The Court recommended that a review begin as soon as practicable and be completed within three months. In the interim, it recommended increasing the employer’s proposed rises from 1.5% to 2% and from 2.3% to 3%.
