In 2009, the Labour Court recommended no improvement to Bord Na Mona’s offer to five surveyors seeking higher pay for increased responsibilities. The recommendation was signed on 28 February 2009. Unite sought regrading, arguing that new technology had expanded the surveyors’ duties to include work done by higher-paid draughtsmen. Bord Na Mona said the technology was a normal business improvement and its offer was fair. The company had offered non-superannuated payments of €2,500, then a further €2,500 plus €1,500 on completion of up-skilling training. The Court did not recommend any improvement to the company’s existing offer, which would apply from a current date once accepted.
