The Labour Court recommended that Trinity College expunge two warnings from a worker’s employment record as a gesture of goodwill. The recommendation was dated 19 February 2009.

The dispute concerned research planning in the Geography Department. The Irish Federation of University Teachers said a department chair threatened disciplinary action after the worker sought to defer discussions about research plans. Trinity College said the worker had refused to engage with the chair and disputed that the request breached an earlier agreement. The Court described the dispute as highly charged and recommended that the parties reach an understanding on coordinated academic research across departments.
