The Labour Court recommended that the HSE Mid Western Area appoint a community dietician manager for Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary without delay, subject to any agreed structural changes in future. The recommendation was signed on 16 February 2009. The Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union opposed the HSE’s proposal to combine acute and community dietetic services under one manager, citing increased responsibilities and the Expert Group Report. The HSE said an integrated management model fitted changes in health services. The Court noted that the earlier recommendation had recorded the union’s willingness to accept one manager based in Limerick for the three areas. It recommended that the appointment now be made.
