The Labour Court recommended that Unite cooperate with Dublin Institute Of Technology’s plan to introduce electronic time and attendance recording for technical officers. The recommendation was signed on 16 February 2009. The proposed system required staff to clock in and out four times a day, including for lunch and at the end of the working day. Unite accepted electronic attendance recording in principle but objected to the additional clocking requirements. The Court said management had the right under the agreement to implement the system to meet its stated requirements, and recommended that the union cooperate as soon as possible.
