The Labour Court recommended keeping a vacant continence-adviser post in HSE South under review, but did not recommend conceding the Irish Nurses Organisation’s claim to fill it. Its recommendation was signed on 12 February 2009. The post became vacant when its holder retired in 2003. The union said it was vital for vulnerable people in Cork and Kerry and alleged internal professional rivalries played a part in its suppression. HSE South denied suppressing the post and said financial and staffing controls required it to prioritise vacancies; it would fill the role when able.
