The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc increase the annual allowance for four College Principals to €14,000 from 1 January 2009. The recommendation was signed on 23 January 2009. Impact / SIPTU had sought an increase from €9,362 to €17,000, arguing that the principals’ roles had changed substantially and that their grade was comparable to Chief Agricultural Officers. Teagasc argued that the principals had not been affected by restructuring in the same way and had been left out of the earlier claim.
