The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Unite’s claim for an incremental scale on the D3 rate paid to Lighthouse Attendants employed by the Commissioners Of Irish Lights. The recommendation was signed on 21 January 2009. Unite said attendants believed they were being treated unfairly and that other categories of workers had salary scales. The Commissioners argued the claim would increase costs and attendants’ duties had not increased. The Court found the claim was cost-increasing and barred under Towards 2016.
