The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Unite / Amicus’s claim for greater access to the company doctor at Organon (Ireland) Limited’s Swords plant. The union said workers were regularly denied access for general medical visits and relied on the company-union agreement. Organon said its medical arrangements at Swords differed from those previously provided in Glasnevin, and pointed to an on-site occupational health nurse, preventative medical benefits and medical insurance. The Court said the current arrangements had been in place since at least 1994 and were reasonable, with no compelling case for changing them. It did not recommend conceding the union’s claim. The recommendation was signed on 10 November 2008.
