The Labour Court recommended that Citizens Information Service and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree criteria for granting incremental credit for prior relevant experience, without limitation. The Citizens Information Board should decide whether applicants meet the criteria. The recommendation was signed on 16 September 2008. The union sought full credit for relevant experience on appointment. Management said new entrants could receive credit up to the third point on the pay scale, with employees able to make a case to the board for more. Any resulting adjustments should take effect from a current date, not retrospectively.
