The Labour Court recommended that a worker and Boc Gases Ireland Limited discuss a salary and pension dispute through a local grievance process. The recommendation was signed on 3 September 2008. The worker said his salary had not kept pace with national wage agreements since 2005 and that his 2008 increase was lower than colleagues’. Boc Gases Ireland Limited argued he should have used local procedures before referring the matter to the Court. The Court recommended urgent discussion at local level. If the parties could not agree, it recommended assistance from a Rights Commissioner, the Labour Relations Commission Conciliation Service or an external facilitator they agreed on.
