Labour Court recommends Water Inspector pay alignment at Drogheda Borough Council

By Rory Hanlon

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court recommended aligning a Drogheda Borough Council Water Inspector’s pay with the Assistant Foreman rate, effective from acceptance of the recommendation. It was signed on 19 August 2008. The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union said the worker had been promised a pay review and argued that his duties were above craft level. The council said he had accepted craftworker pay and was paid the same as other Water Inspectors in Louth local authorities. The Court found he was not appropriately graded and said most such posts were paid above the craft rate. It limited the recommendation to this case.
