The Labour Court recommended that TDG Ireland provide six weeks’ average pay per year of service, inclusive of statutory redundancy, for staff at its Kilcarberry Park site in Clondalkin. The recommendation was signed on 11 August 2008. SIPTU (MPGWU) sought enhanced terms after TDG Ireland decided to close the logistics site, citing difficult trading and the loss of a major customer. The union said many staff were older and would have difficulty finding other work. TDG Ireland said its offer was fair given its commercial position and the potential cost to its remaining operations. The package included €2,000 for employees with less than two years’ continuous service, financial and pension advice, help seeking alternative work and tax-efficient severance payments.
