The Labour Court recommended no increase to a €650 goodwill payment offered to a worker by Sca Packaging Ireland in a dispute over holiday pay accrued during the worker's first year. The recommendation was dated 5 August 2008. Unite - Amicus represented the worker. The union said the worker had relied on company assurances that accrued holidays would be compensated in full. The company said there was no satisfactory evidence for the claim and that its enhanced severance package included the goodwill payment. The Court said no data had been submitted to substantiate the claim dating back to 1988 and considered the offer reasonable in the context of the severance negotiations. The worker's claim failed.
