The Labour Court recommended that the HSE and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union resume negotiations over access to a public-sector pension scheme for home-help organisers and assistants employed by voluntary agencies. The recommendation was signed on 30 July 2008. The union sought access to the public-sector scheme. The HSE said the voluntary agencies employed the workers, who were not public servants and could not join that scheme. The Court recommended coordinated negotiations to clarify the claim’s nature, costs and possible benefits, with discussions to conclude by 30 September 2008.
