Labour Court recommends higher crèche pay at Moyross Community Enterprise Centre

The Labour Court recommended that Moyross Community Enterprise Centre raise pay for its directly employed crèche workers to the level sought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, with further funding to support the increase. The recommendation was signed on 22 July 2008. The union said direct employees were paid less than other staff doing similar work and that their rates were below those in the wider sector. Management said the crèche was operating at a deficit and higher costs could be passed on to parents and affect its future viability. The Court said the current rates were not in line with those of similar workers elsewhere and recommended that the increase be made urgently.
