Labour Court recommends cleaning-team limits at St Brendans Hospital, Loughrea

In a dispute brought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, the Labour Court recommended further talks on centralised rostering and resolving job titles under the National Agreement. Its recommendation was signed on 7 July 2008. The Court recommended that the management proposal be accepted: each Health Care Assistant would serve on the dedicated cleaning team once, for no longer than 12 weeks, and receive an extra day of annual leave. The union objected to changes in job roles and ward-level rosters; St Brendans Hospital, Loughrea said the team was needed to improve hygiene and care.
