The Labour Court recommended against a union claim for parity in pay and conditions between workers at Braun Oral B (Newbridge) and Procter and Gamble’s Nenagh plant. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said Newbridge workers earned 20–25% less and received lower shift rates and sick pay. The Court’s recommendation was dated 26 June 2008. Braun Oral B said its pay rates were above the local market average and that the cost-increasing claim was precluded under Towards 2016. The Court found no grounds to recommend conceding the claim.
