Labour Court recommends earlier effective date for TUI pay rise

The Labour Court recommended that the first 3% Towards 2016 increase for Teachers Union of Ireland members in the Institutes of Technology take effect from 9 February 2007, rather than 8 March, after the union's delayed acceptance of an Action Plan. The recommendation was signed on 12 June 2008. The union said the delay did not materially affect modernisation and sought backdating to 1 December 2006. The Department of Education and Science argued that the delay breached the national agreement and hindered commitments including an apprenticeship-year revision.
