Labour Court recommends 2% pay rise for engineers

In 2008, the Labour Court recommended an ongoing 2% pay increase for engineers covered by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and Unite-Atoa. The recommendation was signed on 22 May 2008 and applied the increase from 1 August 2007. The dispute concerned extra engineering work associated with the Northern Oceanic Transition Area initiative. Unite-Atoa argued the initiative expanded Irish airspace and increased operational tasking, while the IAA said the added workload was relatively minor and already included in staffing arrangements. The Court recommended that the IAA offer the increase and Unite-Atoa accept it; both sides had agreed to be bound by the recommendation.
