Labour Court recommends pay adjustments for security workers at Grange Castle

The Labour Court recommended that Provincial Security Services Limited adjust pay for workers at the Wyeth Biopharma site in Grange Castle after a claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 22 May 2008. The union sought weekly allowances of €50 for supervisors, €40 for controllers and €30 for patrolling drivers, saying the workers’ duties had changed and allowances were standard in the industry. The company argued that the duties were similar to those at its other locations and that the national pay agreement barred increases. The Court noted the company accepted the union’s cited comparator as suitable for pay purposes and recommended adjustments to bring the workers’ pay more in line with it.
