The Labour Court recommended that Emerald Gas Ltd pay a worker €3,000 after finding his dismissal procedurally unfair. The recommendation was signed on 15 May 2008. Emerald Gas said the worker had been absent without following its procedures and cited timesheets and job cards. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said he was dismissed without fair procedures and that the allegations were unfounded. The Court found defects in the investigation and said formal warnings could have addressed the absences earlier. It also found that the worker contributed to an appreciable degree to what happened.
