Labour Court recommends two extra leave days for four hospital secretaries

The Labour Court recommended two additional days of leave for four medical secretaries at the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital, to be taken together if requested. The Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union sought a goodwill gesture for additional duties the secretaries took on from 2003. The Court found it reasonable to acknowledge the inconvenience the staff experienced while problems with the new arrangements were resolved. It said the leave could be granted on a cost-neutral basis and would have no precedent value. The recommendation was signed on 1 May 2008.
