The Labour Court recommended that St Brigid’s Hospital Ballinasloe defer its planned therapy-service reorganisation for three months while management, the Psychiatric Nurses Association and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union discussed staffing needs. The recommendation was signed on 16 April 2008. The unions said management had tried to withdraw additional staffing and was acting unilaterally. Management said the changes had previously been agreed and complied with national agreements and policy. The Court said further discussions were needed to establish staffing requirements; if levels remained unresolved, the matter could return to it for a definitive recommendation.
