The Labour Court recommended that the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority and Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union resume discussions over organisational changes and grading claims. The recommendation was signed on 2 January 2008. The Court said management’s discussion, inclusiveness and partnership fell short of best practice. It said the merits of the union’s regrading claims had not yet been established and that discussion had been insufficient. The Court recommended that the parties re-engage, with conciliation assistance if needed, as early as possible in 2008 and ideally complete talks within two months.
