The Labour Court recommended restoring the status quo for relief cover at St Raphael's Centre after a dispute involving HSE South and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union. The dispute concerned Care Assistants providing temporary cover for a Social Care Worker post in Youghal. The union said Care Assistants were expected to cover the post despite not being qualified for it and being unable to apply for the permanent position. HSE South said it was committed to ensuring staff had appropriate qualifications and would support them in gaining the necessary qualifications. The Court said proposals put forward at the Labour Relations Commission provided a reasonable basis for resolving the dispute. It dated the recommendation 3 December 2007.
